The series will be held in English.

This is a series of free and open courses aimed to deepen our understanding of cultural diversity. It’s open to everyone to join!

We will adopt the perspectives of cultural anthropology, but will also incorporate insights from such adjacent disciplines as ethnology, folkloristics, archaeology and cultural history.

In each course, a specific topic will be picked up from our daily life: food, drink, childhood, family, marriage, gender, love, city, work, education, religion, music, health, medicine, death, and so on. Through the cultural analysis of such topics, we will explore ‘the Other’ and also ourselves from a new angle. These meetings will invite you to get involved, discuss and reflect together.

Each course will include two lectures and a little homework.

The timeline: 

• October 28th. at 6pm – Marriage (Part 1)
• November 4th. at 6pm – Marriage (Part 2)
• November 18th. at 6 pm – Death (Part 1)
• November 25th. at 6pm – Death (Part 2)

In the first two meetings we will explore the topic of marriage.

About the host: Kazuomi Kuniyoshi, PhD, is a native of Tokyo, who has spent over 30 years of his life in Europe. He had worked for Belgian, Finnish and Japanese universities before he moved to Vilnius in 2012.
